About Ron Tone

Ron has operated his own Agronomic Consulting Practice since 1996. Some of the projects to which he as lent his expertise are; Manure Management Plans and Reports, on Farm Research on hemp and a determination of best practices for the production of hemp in Western Canada, Damage Assessments, Environmental Impact Assessments, Crop Management Reviews. He was a Select Seed Grower and has served with Canadian University Services Overseas (CUSO) in Ghana, West Africa.

Credentials Include:
  • Graduate of University of Manitoba with a B. Sc. in Agriculture.
  • Volunteer Agricultural Extension Worker working overseas in Ghana, West Africa for CUSO.
  • Experience in the Retail Seeds Sector of the agricultural industry.
  • Experience as a Field Representative with the Manitoba Agricultural Credit Corporation.
  • Background as a Grain Farmer, with over 18 years spent farming.
  • Farm Tax Consultant with Farm Business Consultants for 13 years.
  • Member of the Manitoba Institute of Agrologists - Professional Agrologist (P.Ag.)
  • Completed Forensic Agrology Certificate Program
  • Certified Crop Advisor

Reference Projects:
  • Carried out three years of extension work in Ghana, West Africa. His focus was irrigation and the introduction of quality seed in field and vegetable production.
  • Presented a paper entitled "Hemp Fertility Year 2" to the Manitoba Society of Soil Sciences
  • Collected an extensive data base profiling Hemp Production in Western Canada
  • Served as Senior Agronomist with overall responsibility for 18,000 acres of
  • Hemp production across Western Canada for Consolidated Growers and Processors.
  • Introduced Borage and Hemp into St. Pierre area of Manitoba
  • A leader in the use of GIS for Manure Management in Manitoba
  • Manure Management Plans and Reports for operations of all sizes across Manitoba
  • Numerous Agronomic Assessments for Irrigation Projects
